Marin Designers Showcase 2010

The Marin Designers Showcase is a great volunteer event that the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership has been organizing for 39 years. This event gives local designers an opportunity to showcase their artistic vision in a beautiful home while at the same time strengthening volunteerism in Marin County as the event has been largely volunteer driven throughout its existence. The design spaces for the house were donated to the Center for the duration of the event: May 14 - June 5, 2010.

While designers have been in and out of the house for the past couple of months, I hadn't seen the house until this past Friday when a couple of staff went on a field trip to see the design spaces in mid-transformation. To say the house and grounds are breathtaking would be an understatement! With three floors of design spaces ranging from bathroom to stairwell to game room, designers are given an opportunity to truly use their artistic flare. Also, there are several exterior design spaces including the pool area and an outdoor potting shed that won't take a backseat to the interior designs.

Once the house opens on May 14, 2010, volunteers will be needed to keep things running smoothly. If you have an eye for design or simply want to take in the design aesthetics for free, consider volunteering for the Marin Designers Showcase. Volunteer opportunities include house docents, front desk & administration, chair of the day, and lunch assistants.
