Another sign of the times is the upsurge of community members who want to volunteer. Everyone just wants to do more this time of year. There's a heightened awareness about the issues facing our community (check out the surprising data Sarah dug up in her last post).
Being Marin's one stop shop for all things volunteer, Holiday volunteering is a boon for business here. We often are on the receiving end of frustrated volunteers who have been turned away by the agency they wanted to work for. I can understand some of that frustration. You get the itch to do something good in your community and then you're told that your community doesn't need your help...yet, it's clear to you that your community does need your help. But the reality is, some agencies just don't have the staff and resources to accommodate the extra surge of volunteers during the holidays.
That's where we come in. This year we've put in the extra hours to organize some really great holiday volunteer opportunities with our agency partners so you can easily sign you and your family up for a meaningful project without having to call around to a thousand nonprofits (there a literally a couple thousand nonprofits in Marin!).
Here a few examples of the projects available to sign up for now.
- Share a warm Holiday meal at Homeward Bound
- Bake Thanksgiving pies for Casa Allegra
- Gift Wrap for Love is the Answer
- Coordinate a Holiday gift drive for Homeward Bound
- Help organize a holiday party for Pacific Diversified Services

Happy Holiday Volunteering!
